Dear friends,
I believe the world spins on the balance of Giving and Receiving. And authenticity.
The most influential companies and people know this well: the more value you Give the more you Receive back. Our friends and parents are masters of authenticity, the “truer” they are, the closer we get and ready to do anything for them.
In my opinion success, whether measured in dollars, impressions or awareness is the outcome of this cycle.
For OUTRACE CANCER, each and everyone of us has given 100%, without reserve. Been our true selves, done what we love the most for a cause we believe in.
Throughout the 24hours, all runners and riders pushed to their limits. Organisers and volunteers helped in every way. Friends and families cheered, day and night, camping outside in the cold. Without asking, like the most normal thing to do, came to help in the middle of the night when needed the most.
It is no surprise we Received in reciprocal amount.
I am sure we all feel proud for having contributed to this success, and had the opportunity to make a difference.
And how to best measure the success with some hard numbers:
- Every team SMASHED their goal, whether it was 400km running, 40km/h average bike speed, or simply survive.
- We brought Martin Place to life – people gathering for 24hours for a good reason.
- We INSPIRED passer by, friends and colleagues that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things.
- We exceeded the fundraising goal, completing the fund of our prevention project.
- We managed to impress and deeply touch even the Cancer Council CEO!
And for a good reason. Drum rolling please for the total..
$78,120

PICTURES AND VIDEOS
We have collected some pictures from the day and published them on Flickr Gallery
If you have some pictures, videos, interviews, etc.. of your teams or the event you would like to share with us, please upload the files here (zip files best!). The link should work with Firefox and IE.. If this doesn’t work for some reason, please contact me
We are sharing them to our Facebook Page … what? You have not liked us yet? Easy.. just click on.
WHERE TO FROM HERE
Firstly, Scott, Al, John and Adam from Team Australia will be taking on their RAAM challenge in just over a month – you can keep an eye on their progress on their FB page
I am already planning a new bigger adventure for next year or the one after and I’m using this general email to break the news to my gorgeous and understanding wife! : )
Sometime this July we will repeat our all-nighter, Coogee to Palm Beach via the coast line (~90KM). If you would like to join just get in touch.
For OUTRUN CANCER things next few months are exciting:
- In the next month we will setup an OUTRUN CANCER Advisory Board with members from Cancer Council and other charities to select the next prevention projects to fund
- In August, OUTRUN CANCER goes interstate! We will run our Corporate Treadmill Marathons in Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth – wish us luck as it is brand new territory!
And finally, Carlos Nunez, is now fully funded for the next 4 years to continue the work on the CLEAR data. All the best! You are the one doing the hard work!
We will make sure to keep everyone updated at least once a year on the progress.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS:
