RUNYOGA

To improve your running and take it to the next level, you must incorporate sessions into your run training schedule that will not only  complement your training but allow you to take it to the next level.  That’s why we have added RUNYOGA. Our RUNYOGA sessions are specifically designed for runners and delivered professionally, period. Accredited fitness professionals who meet the required criteria of being a Runlab coach deliver RUNYOGA. We realise that not only is it challenging to fit these required sessions into your training week, but also they must be customised for your running.  A group environment of like minded individuals is a huge advantage. Then add to this the expertise of structure and experience, and you create a dynamic training environment

Yoga is an adaptive and beneficial series of poses that help to improve strength, flexibility, proprioception, endurance, balance, coordination and recovery. Yoga is also a great way to clear the mind, reduce stress and improve focus.

Yoga is not a one-size fits all philosophy and can be tailored to different needs. As we are all unique, each individual’s practice will be different. While some are strong in certain positions, others will thrive on the flexibility and the ability to go deeper into a pose. Yoga is able to be adapted to everyone and every body, particularly when you have injury. Traditional poses can always be tailored to the physical body, rather than fitting and forcing the body into a particular pose and shape.

Whilst there are many types of yoga, which all have a slightly different focus. For athletes, and particularly runners, the aim is largely  to assist in recovery and help improve core and hip strength, this is the focus of RUNYOGA. The added benefits are to improve flexibility of the muscles around the hips and legs, such as glutes, hip flexors, hamstrings and calf, all of which are notorious in feeling the pinch after a long run or challenging run session. Balance, proprioception and hip strengthening will also aid those with ankle instability issues, which in turn will help reduce unwanted stress on the ankle. This is essential for any trail runners out there who not only need to be strong to navigate through hilly terrain, but also need to manage the uneven ground.

RUNYOGA is a weekly session, which runs for approximately 45 minutes. The sessions follow a carefully planned and structured sequence poses and stretches for runners. RUNYOGA can be taken as your only RUNLAB session of the week or added to your current MYRUNGROUP or RUNSTRONG memberships at an extremely affordable price.
